New Millennium Magic : A Complete System of Self-Realization (Llewellyn's High Magick Series)
New Millennium Magic : A Complete System of Self-Realization (Llewellyn's High Magick Series) Summary:
Llewellyn Publications | 1996 | ISBN: 1567187455 | 384 pages | PDF | 13,5 MB
Summary: A Classic Rating: 5 This is the 2nd edition with the 1st titled 'The New Magus'. Won't bore you with the praise of the previous reviews but just want to request that the publisher reprint this book. Also I might ad that Llewellyn uses the cheapest acidic paper available and I can assure you that any existing copy will have tan (yellowed) pages and in 5 years will break in your hands like the dead sea scrolls. My advice to the author is to have it republished by a reputable publiher like Lulu etc Summary: Not the only book to have, but one of the best. Rating: 5 Years ago, when I read The New Magus, I was in a time of spiritual searching in my life. From Western to Eastern; Yoga, Tao, Wicca, Hermetic, and much, much more ... I read, studied, and tried to find my place in them all. I wrote many personal papers regarding my journey and beliefs. It wasn't until I read The New Magus that I felt I'd found what I was looking for. It was if The New Magus was mimicking (and enhancing upon) my own writings. The New Magus was good, but it always left me with questions. Certain concepts and theories didn't sit well with me. Most, if not all, of them were updated in New Millennium Magic. I didn't (and still don't) have the years of in depth knowledge and occult study that Mr. Tyson does, but in areas where I was comfortably knowledgeable, I found myself agreeing with him. Where I wasn't so cknowledgeable, my own researches, theories, and conclusions have led me to agree with Mr. Tyson, time and time again. I do not believe that this is the end-all book of Western Magic. And yes, there are concepts and theories in which I don't fully agree with Mr. Tyson ... notably the removal of oneself from civilization. But I can say that of the hundreds of books I have read in the last 17 years, this one is my 'core' book. As for Mr. Tyson's stress on Great Powers/Great Responsibility, I think this is a wonderful lesson for all aspects of life. Many parents, teachers, and books talk about Karma and what goes around comes around. I for one am very glad he continually points this out, as I have witnessed people in life, business, and occult lose themselves to selfishness and ... dare I say ... evil. It doesn't have to be magic, we all have responsibilities with money, trust, leadership, and other forms of power as well. I have recommended this book for years, and I will continue to recommend this book to anyone interested in Western occult information and practices. .
