This review book is okay,but I have personally found some conflicting information within the answer rationale choices. It is very specific and technical at times. I think the certification exam may be more general than what is in this book. This book is a good way to reinforce what a student has read in the text book. I often review this book (and Fitzgerald, Zerwekk, and Hollier) prior to taking quizzes or major exams. Just be leary of the fact that there is some inconsistencies between this book and what is in the literature.

I was very disappointed I spent the money on this review book. The only positive thing, it is comprehensive and comes with a CD of practice questions. I did not find it helpful when studying for my certification exam as the questions were rather difficult and unlike the FNP exam questions. The most disappointing part was the amount of conflicting/wrong information I encountered in this book.

The only positive thing about this book was that it was comprehensive. I found the questions not at all similar to those on the ANCC exam, and many of the cited references for screening recommendations were not those used on the ANCC exam, hence if you studied from this book you would get the answers wrong on the test. It would have been more helpful to have had references after the answer to each question, as it was difficult to determine where the answer came from. I definitely would not use this as an exam review book.

I found this book to be full of questions that are not for entry level nurse practitioners. I did like the rationale after each question and it did make you think. I did not think it resembled the AANP or ANCC exam.

This review book is full of questions that are similar to the certification exam in format, multiple choice with four answers to choose from. I found it to be a good review to brush up on clinical practice issues. I would not study just this book prior to the exam however. I found there are more detailed questions in this book rather than broader questions. After having taken the exam, I recommend this book but I would also include other exam review books. The CD that comes with it is very user-friendly, and, like the book, helped me brush up on clinical issues and facts.
