The Stand is a Marvel Comics adaptation of Stephen King's epic novel of the same name. It will ultimately consist of thirty issues divided into five story arcs. The Stand: Captain Trips is the title of the first story arc, published from September 10, 2008 to January 28, 2009. The just-concluded second story arc, The Stand: American Nightmares, was published from March 11, 2009 to August 19, 2009. The first issue of the third story arc, entitled introduces new characters and somehow increases its pace. IGN's opinionated reviewer Jesse Schedeen despite his bitching still gave this issue an "Impressive" 8.2 out of 10 rating.
