The Second Oldest Profession, Spies and Spying in the 20th Century Summary:By Phillip Knightley
The Second Oldest Profession, Spies and Spying in the 20th Century (88992) MARC Record Unabridged Cassette (Product Type Info)/15 Cassettes Written By: Phillip Knightley Narrated By: Nelson Runger Genre(s): History , Nonfiction ISBN: 1-55690-464-9 Phillip Knightley traces the history of modern intelligence agencies from 1909 to the present. As his tale unfolds, the author raises the age-old question: Are spies really worth all the trouble? The answer may be the best kept secret the KGB and CIA ever shared. Summary: A Good History, But Needs Updating Rating: 4 For students of intelligence history, this book or the unabridged audiotape set is a good beginning for learning how the world intelligence community began and evolved. It only covers the major players of the Cold War. I don't believe China or Mossad are mentioned at all. It stops in the 1990s and I wish there was someone who could update it with the same sense of fun the original author had.
