Scottish military uniforms Summary:
Publisher: David and Charles Hippocrene Books 1975 | 132 Pages | ISBN: 0882543148 | PDF | 27 MB
Although this book is entitled Scottish Military Uniforms, it does not include details of the Scots Guards or the large numbers of yeomanry, volunteers, militia and fencibles of Scotland which existed throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries before being incorporated as volunteer and militia battalions of the line regiments in 1881 and incorporated into the Territorial Force (later renamed Territorial Army) in 1908. For uniforms of the Scottish Volunteer Forces, the reader is directed to Records of the Scottish Volunteer Forces 1859-1908 by Lt-General Sir James Moncrieff Grierson, kcb, cvo, cmg, which shows some 230 different uniforms in colour (this rare book has recently been reprinted).
